It all started when…

I wasn’t really looking for a business, but when I discovered Takacat, I was intriqued. Takacats are different from other inflatables, with several distinct advantages. It’s a really stable boat with it’s catamaran design, which also makes it a tad faster than traditional inflatables. The open bow (LX Series) makes it easy to get on or off, whether on the beach, at the dock, or when swimming. And who doesn’t like that with the open transom you don’t have water accumulating in the boat. And since Takacats pack down into two bags, it’s easy to store and easy to take with you.

I learned to sail at a sailing camp in Eastern NC, starting with Sunfish and Sailfish, and then Lightnings. Then I spent some time on Hobie’s. As a young adult we’d have a Hobie at the beach and my brother and I would sail for hours.

As I looked around to get back into sailing, I considered keel boats, and trailer sailing, which all are fun. However, the most fun I ever had sailing was on a Sunfish or Hobie or similar smaller boats. When I discovered Fulcrum’s Rocket, I knew they were onto something. The Rocket is an appreciable update to a great boat. The Rocket has a much lighter hull, while being a little longer in wider, which makes it more stable, sail better, and with better acceleration. The over 6 foot cockpit has room to take family or friends with you. The folks at Fulcrum have an incredible background in sailing, and it shows in the Rocket.

This business is more about getting more people on the water, whether it’s boating or sailing. You can have a great time without a huge investment and storage hassles. Check out Takacats and the Rocket!
